Independent living means having the practical help and support you need to be able to take part in your community, lead the life you want and achieve your goals. It does not mean you have to live by yourself or do everything by yourself.
Living independently means:
- being able to fully access your local environment, including buildings and public spaces
- being able to access transport and adapted housing
- having the technical aids, equipment and personal assistance you need to be able to do what you want, when you want
- having access to education, training and employment opportunities.
